Apollo-Soyuz ASTP: Snappy Détente

Apollo-Soyuz ASTP: Snappy Détente

1975: Two deadly enemy countries (the crews became good friends)shaking hands across two wonderful machines; and Deke Slayton making his space flight at last. Just diplomacy in space maybe, but an interesting mission anyway.
By the way, to the Soviets it was “Soyuz-Apollo”…. the classic “I’m first” syndrome.

Artist: Davis Paul Meltzer.
