Not the Red Baron, my friends. Werner Voss was undoubtedly the master of the iconic Fokker triplane. His final battle at the helm of this dream machine is perhaps the more incredible in the history of aerial combat. One of the eight pilots who fought that day against Voss, 57 victories ace James McCudden, once said that Voss was “the bravest German airman”. He was indeed.
