Messerschmitt Bf 109F-4: Winged tribute.

A F-4 (or maybe a late F-2) of the 2ª Escuadrilla Azul (the 2nd of five squadrons), a Spanish fighter unit which fought -as the 15./JG51- with the Luftwaffe in the Russian Front. The Cabo Mecánico (Mechanic Corporal) Zaro died struck by a propeller and he was paid homage here with the usual Falangist “¡Presente!” (Present!).

The Zacuto (as the F model was nicknamed here in Spain) is considered the best looking of all the Bf 109. It was a beauty indeed.
