Tupolev Tu-4: Almost a Carbon Copy.

Tupolev Tu-4: Almost a Carbon Copy

The disposal of a bunch of Boeing B-29 Stratofortress in WW2 and the necessity of modern up-to-date strategic bombers in the USSR at the end of that war resulted in a bizarre event. The great Andrei Tupolev was ordered by Stalin to copy the American masterpiece from one if the interned example. So both radically opposed enemies ended using, basically, the same bomber.

Magnificent nose design and cutaway.
