Tupolev Tu-4: Almost a Carbon Copy

Tupolev Tu-4: Almost a Carbon Copy

The arrival of some Boeing B-29 Stratobombers in WW2 and the necessity of modern up-to-date strategic bombers in the USSR at the end of that war resulted in a bizarre event: The great Andrei Tupolev was ordered to copy the American masterpiece -from an interned example- so both radically opposed enemies ended using, basically, the same bomber.

Magnificent nose design and cutaway.
