1908 was the year the Wright Brothers truly showed the World their total mastery of the Sky. Wilbur went to France and his flights there destroyed any doubt gathered about their achievements. “Eh bien, nous sommes battus!, Nous n’existons pas!” as French pioneer Leon Delagrange said.
Orville’s flights at Fort Myers were less bombastic -after all it was a local military affair-, yet equally effective. Regrettably they ended tragically with an accident that killed Lt. Seldridge and left Orville seriously injured.
