Lockheed L-1049E/G Super Connie: THE Spanish Cliché.

Lockheed L-1049E Super Connie: Topical Spanish.

Spain’s national airline Iberia entered the world of up to date transatlantic operations when three Super Connies were purchased in 1952. The Spanish weak economy have dictated until then that Iberia’s long distance passengers had to suffer the “comforts” of obsolete non-pressurized Douglas DC-4s in those routes.

Curiously -or not so, it’s Spain after all- the Super Connie in this almost hilariously kitsch poster wears a TWA livery.
