Hedilla Monocoque II: Elegante promesa.

Hedilla Monocoque II: Elegante promesa.

Salvador Hedilla was one of the most important Spanish aviation pioneers: pilot, teacher and designer. Having bought a 1911 Vendôme monoplane, Hedilla took it as a basis to design, beginning in 1915, his three monocoques. Good and fast, if somewhat obsolete, these aircraft didn’t know further development due to their designer untimely demise in an aircraft accident (1917).

Appealing drawing of Hedilla’s second monocoque, also known as the “Monocoque Pujol nº 5” by Juan Abellán García-Muñoz.
