Junkers failed miserably with their Ju 60 as the answer to the shock provoked by Swissair introduction of the fast and modern Lockheed Orion; Heinkel with their He 70 did much better, but not quite. The Ju 160 was Junkers’ rethink of their lacklustre Ju 60. Gone were the corrugated exterior, clumsy undercarriage and draggy cockpit design. Improved in other areas also, around 50 of these no-nonsense beauties were built and they gave good services.
Superb sepia pic, it was a neat aircraft.
