Tupolev Tu-104B: Soviets’ Own Ways (II).

Not a thing that you saw in Western commercial aviation. The Tu-104‘s used their braking chute only in very concrete cases; on hazardous situations obviously, but also with snow or -as in this case- with a well-drenched landing surfaces.
Imagine the resources needed to retrieve those chutes and the complications of such system on ultra-busy airports like Chicago, JFK, Heathrow….
