David Rose RP-4: Under some tarps.

This homebuilt racer certainly is too modern to be here, but with two 2700hp Dart V8s drag racing (!!) engines each one driving one of the contra-rotating props, minimum wing area, cool cockpit placement, etc…. well, it’s sure tempting. The first time I saw this picture of David Rose’s RP-4 -and some scarce info- was around a decade ago. I was truly interested in seeing how those peculiar props worked out, but never heard another word about it since. I have the suspicion that, for some reason, the project has died, and now languishes in a hangar…. waiting.
