Around 70 years ago, in June 1946, its main sub-assemblies were transported this way to Terminal Island in Long Beach. At a speed of 2 mph the journey took two whole days. After assembly the Spruce Goose took its first flight next year, 1947. All for nothing, well, just because Howard Hughes’ stubbornness.

A superb photo composition, in my humble opinion.
