Tsunami Air Racer: Masterful.

The “Tsunami” is a purpose-built air racer designed to compete in the Unlimited air races. Taking the best features from the usual warbirds employed in those races, its designer Bruce Boland created this clean sheet design marvel powered by the ubiquitous RR Merlin. Owned by John R. Sandberg, “Tsunami” took its first flight in 1986. During its short active life (1986-91) it only won one race, but it sure had the potential. An attempt to break the 3 km world speed record in 1989 was also not very successful. After its last race in 1991, “Tsunami” was lost tragically with its owner in a crash during the return flight to its home base in Minnesota. The aircraft is currently under restoration.

Originality, please. Always a favourite of mine, just look at those lines.
