The pretty D.338 was, in essence, a retractable undercarriage variant of the D.333 equipped also with a longer wingspan. First flown in 1936, these quite flexible airliners could be operated in both short-range/high-density flights and long-distance flights with some interior modifications. The D.338’s were produced in relatively high number (around 30) and enjoyed a long and very interesting operational life, specially in WW2 . They’re requisitioned by l’Armée de l’Air and a few were employed by Lufthansa. A third of the D.338’s survived the war and saw service postwar.
A utterly stylish poster for one of the best looking trimotors, in my humble opinion.
