60 years ago the great Roland Glavany, then Dassault chief test pilot, made the Mirage III prototype (“001”) first flight. A myth began that day.
Curiously, neither of the two Mirages in this superb drawing of Paul Lengellé is that first prototype. In fact, the one in the background is its forerunner, the seminal MD.550 (Mirage I), and the other looks like a late pre-production IIIA.
