de Havilland DH.84 Dragon: “On the banks of the river Nile…”

Misr Airwork was the starting point of nowadays EgyptAir. Originally, this 1930s airline was an Egyptian subsidiary of the British Airwork Service. They bought British, obvioulsy. In this case, the DH Dragon. That cute and quite useful biplane which served as a bridge between the rustic Fox Moth and the utterly elegant Dragon Rapide.

Such an stunning Art Deco poster by N. Strekalovsky.

  2. Perhaps one of most remarkable events in record of this airplane ‘Dragon Rapide’ was the transport of general Francisco Franco from the Canary Islands to Northern Africa. Luca de Tena, head of ‘ABC’, ultra-conservative, Bourbon enslaved ‘Yellow press’, promoted contract for this flight, airplane to be in Casablanca, july 11, 1936. JosĆ© Calvo-Sotelo was murderd on July 13, 1936, Franco flew from Canary Islands on July 17, 1936. Blessings +
