Hamilton Metalplane H-18: Maiden-of-all-trades.

Hamilton Metalplane H-18: Maiden-of-all-trades.

The H-18 was the first all-metal aircraft to be registered in the US. It was an advanced cantilever monoplane with a single pilot and five passengers capability : four in a cabin and one in the pilot’s open cockpit. Nicknamed “Maiden Milwaukee” this aircraft was built to take part in the 1927 National Air Tour where it placed second. Mainly used as a landplane, it could also be fitted with Hamilton-made metal floats.
The unique Hamilton Monoplane had a peripatetic life, ending as an helicopter!
