Dassault Mirage IIIE: Joyeux Anniversaire.

The first E made its first flight 60 years ago yesterday. Not as pure as the C, this multirole variant added some muscle to an already capable design. Here a French AF IIIE in its anti-radar configuration: AS37 Martel with BARAX ECM & PHIMAT chaff pods.

Pretty contrails.

  1. Pretty yes, but they are not (strictly speaking) contrails. More accurately they are wingtip vortices, n’est-ce pas?
