BTZ Hanneton II: Still Tomorrow’s Plane.

The French Bureau Technique Zborowski was created after WW2 to discreetly exploit the technical knowledge of Austrian count, and former SS officer, Helmut Graf von Zborowski. The latter proposed during the early 1950s various forms of VTOL turbojet/prop powered “tailseaters” equipped with annular wings. SNECMA took up later the idea to produce their Coléoptère.

The artist of this Popular Science article was clearly inspired in Zborowski’s Hanneton II, one of his early designs for a liaison aircraft powered by a pair of Turbomeca turboprops.
