Macchi M.C.202 Folgore: Tu vuò fà l’italiano?

Italian pilots comparing notes near the entrance of the incredible Pantelleria hangar, summer of 1942. The yellow rabbit nose art on that Folgore identifies it as the mount of “Pipino il Breve” aka Ten. Pil. Giovanni Franchini of the 351ª Squadriglia, 155º Gruppo, 51º Stormo. In 1956, the then Tenente Colonnello Franchini became the first Italian to broke the “Sound Barrier” in a dive at the helm of the Aerfer Sagittario 2.

Shorts, tank tops, head bandanas… Causal attire to say the very least.
